RBI Grade B age limit and DOB range
The 2026 RBI notice requires candidates to be at least 21 and below 30 years as on 1 April 2026. For General/EWS, the official DOB window is 2 April 1996 through 1 April 2005, inclusive.
The exact date matters: RBI Grade B does not use the calendar year alone. Enter the DOB printed on your certificates and select the applicable category.
Qualification is different by cadre
- •Grade B General requires a bachelor’s degree with the marks and subject conditions in the notice.
- •DEPR and DSIM have separate master’s-degree, subject and marks requirements.
- •M.Phil. and Ph.D. candidates may have higher upper-age limits where the notice permits it.

Attempts and examination route
For Grade B General, the notice limits General candidates to six attempts. OBC candidates have nine attempts and SC/ST/PwBD candidates have no attempt limit, subject to the official conditions and upper-age rule.

Category-wise age relaxation
Relaxations apply to the upper age limit and require the certificate or service evidence specified in the notice.
- SC/ST (where reservation applies): +5 years, up to 35 years.
- Eligible OBC candidates: +3 years, up to 33 years.
- PwBD and ex-servicemen: concessions apply under the notice and prevailing Government of India instructions.
- M.Phil. upper age may be 32 years and Ph.D. upper age may be 34 years where the cadre conditions are met.
- Relevant bank, insurance, financial-institution or RBI experience may provide a limited concession; documentary proof is essential.
